Anachnid, Woman from the sky who falls on earth, Indigenous Singer-songwriter of the Year of the Socan Foundation is a multidisciplinary Oji-Cree artist based in Montreal. Anachnid embodies just as many complex personalities as the spider: poisonous spirit, young woman in love, caring grandmother ... She presents her spiritual and fun musical universe with a first album, Dreamweaver, released in February 2020 and nominated on the Polaris long list. Dreamweaver is a marriage of emotions and sounds, hybrid and sensual style of electro-pop, trap, indie, soul and hip hop, animal sounds, drum and flute evocative of her ancestral cultures. On stage, Anachnid interweaves bitingly accurate political response with straight up sass in her dance floor hits before sliding into soft aching romantic tracks and remarkable fragility. She represents the voice of a new generation of Indigenous creators, strong, emancipated and non-negotiable.
